The AACR Foundation supports the mission of the
American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) – to understand, prevent, diagnose, treat, andcure cancer through research, education, communication, and collaboration.
The AACR takes great care in placing your donation where it truly belongs: in the hands of scientists working on breakthroughs in cancer research. While working hard to keep expenses low, the Foundation raised a total of more than $38 million in 2015.
The AACR and the AACR Foundation are 501(c)(3) public charities as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. We provide transparency to assure our members and our donors that their dollars are wisely used.
Where the Money Goes:
The goal of the AACR Foundation is to prevent and cure cancer by promoting research, supporting researchers, increasing understanding, and raising awareness.
The Foundation does so by funding programs deemed by the American Association for Cancer Research to be of the highest priority and impact.
Here are just a few of the AACR's accomplishments in 2015:
The AACR provided over $42 million in research grants, awards, and prizes to fund and recognize innovative, meritorious research.
More than 19,300 attendees registered for the AACR Annual Meeting 2015. More than 5,820 scientific abstracts were selected for presentation, complementing an outstanding program of scientific and educational events.
Published eight peer-reviewed scientific journals:
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention;
Cancer Immunology Research;
Cancer Prevention Research;
Clinical Cancer Research;
Molecular Cancer Research, and
Molecular Cancer Therapeutics.
Articles in AACR journals were accessed nearly 60 million times.
Since 1961, the AACR has presented more than 400 prizes, awards, and lectureships recognizing the achievements of researchers and physicians who have made significant contributions to the understanding, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer.
